Why IB? |
|
Creativity and curiosity are encouraged as learning aspects in the PYP. These spark inquiry, which lead to student learning! Our Units of Inquiry are designed in a way to help students ignite their curiosity and seek even more knowledge. We also encourage students to grow as learners through developing their Learner Profile. These attributes grow compassionate, open-minded students who are ready to interact with the world around them.

What is IB?
The IB Primary Years Programme (PYP) for children aged 3 - 12 nurtures and develops young students as caring, active participants in a lifelong journey of learning. The IB prepares students to succeed in a world where facts and fiction merge in the news, and where asking the right questions is a crucial skill that will allow them to flourish long after they’ve left our programmes.

The IB's programmes are different from other curricula because they:
- encourage students of all ages to think critically and challenge assumptions
- develop independently of government and national systems, incorporating quality practice from research and our global community of schools
- encourage students of all ages to consider both local and global contexts
- develop multilingual students.

Transdisciplinary Learning
What makes an International Baccalaureate PYP education so special?
Students are instructed in six themes, called the Transdisciplinary Themes. When we integrate instruction (teaching ELA through Science and Social Studies, and relating all of our subjects together), students have the opportunity to use their knowledge in many ways. With the Transdisciplinary Themes, not only can we integrate our subjects, but we can also include authentic experiences and current events. Our six themes that all students study are:
