How do I help my child with inquiry?

Children are naturally curious! They ask questions about EVERYTHING. Asking THEM questions can help to spark inquiry, which helps them learn about their world.

Here are some great questions you can ask your child:

What did you learn today that made you want to keep finding out more?
What don’t you understand yet?
What new questions do you have now?
Have your ideas or thinking changed? Why?
What different opinions/views are there on this subject?
What’s your opinion and why?
Can you explain your learning in different ways?
How does your learning connect to the local/global world?
What do you want to learn more about?
What can you already do?
What will you work on next?
What can you do to become a more effective learner?

2020-2021: Screen- Free activities that encourage learning!
With our remote learning and hybrid learning well underway, I've noticed that I've spent a LOT of time in front of a screen lately! If you're feeling the same way, here are some activities you can do as a family to continue exploring your creativity!

3/17/2020- Approaches to Learning and the Learner Profile
Amidst our current challenges with the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), there are some wonderful opportunities to extend and develop other skills for our students. While you're learning at home, take a break from the packet of information to focus on the Learner Profile and our Approaches to Learning. Pick a task to complete, and reflect on how and why you did that. We are excited to see how our students grow during this time!

Action! What is it, and how do we share it?

ACTION at home and in the community!
One of the things that the PYP encourages is for students to apply their learning through action. This is the greatest and most authentic assessment of their learning. If you see your child using action, please let your child's teacher know about it!
